The last competition of the season was held on Monday 25th March and proved challenging as the subject was Macro/Close-Up. A subject which requires good technical skills and knowledge. A variety of subjects were submitted and ranged from still life to insects to flowers.
Our Judge was an old friend of the Club, John Harmsworth from Wellington. John was unable to be with us in person but had prepared written comments on our work which were read out as each image was presented. He said that it is important to keep the main subject sharp which was difficult with macro due to the limited depth of field available at short distances. He went on to say a few images had suffered in this respect but on the whole the standard was very good.
He rounded off his comments by saying it had been a pleasure and an honour to look at our work this year and many years in the past.
