Monday 24th April was the final meeting of the season and the presentation of the Trophies and Certificates in recognition of members achievements during the past year.
The winner of the Print Trophy was David Mortimer, 2nd Steve Presnell and 3rd. Cherrie Temple. The winner of the DPI Trophy was Steve Presnell, 2nd Sue Mortimer and 3rd Cherrie Temple.
After the presentation members were treated to an illustrated talk by Steve Presnell, entitled 'Less is More'. This covered some 100 digital images, mainly in monochrome, concentrating on minimalism and negative space in the frame. Many of the images were taken on moorland with windswept trees and the use of leading lines in the landscape giving some interesting patterns. Some images were devoted to the seashore with lines of decaying wooden groynes which added some texture to the scene.
The last image of the presentation was of a lone yacht emerging from the mist and summed up the evening for being one of the best minimalistic images of the night.
Our new season will commence on Monday 9th October 2023 and we will welcome any new members who would wish to join us.
