Lofoten 68 North

On Monday 5th December the members welcomed a new speaker to the Club, David Morton DPAGB BPE5, from Wellington.
David presented an illustrated talk on his two visits to the picturesque Norwegian Lofoten Islands, inside the Arctic Circle, during February. The harshness of the landscape with snow capped mountains, deep fjords and stunning snow covered beaches were captured sometimes in time lapse sequences and others using long exposures to create atmospheric images of the land, sea and sky.
A trek into the remote arrears by snowmobile at 3am in the morning with temperatures of minus 20 degrees, yielded some stunning images of the Aurora or Northern Lights. David told us that he intends to re-visit this part of the world again in the future.
Following the break we were treated to some of his other work such as wildlife, portraits, dance movement, close up and multi imaging. All these were accompanied by screen grabs and a lot of technical information for us to absorb.
Everyone agreed it had been another excellent and informative evening.
