On Monday 4th December it was back into the classroom for members as we took part in a tutorial by Canon on the art of Close-Up and Macro Photography. The lecture was divided up into 8 chapters each covering a different aspect of the subject from basic equipment to the specialized lenses used in micro photography.
Charts were used to show the relationship between ISO, Shutter speeds and Apertures for the various magnifications used in close-up and macro.
The use of flash was covered in some detail and how this affected the final image. With ultra close-ups it is very important to light the subject correctly and to retain as much depth of field as possible.
The whole lecture was illustrated with hundreds of examples as we progressed through the various sections.
Everyone agreed this had been a very informative evening and we had all gained more knowledge from this fascinating branch of our hobby.
